Some devices have high operating temperatures. The continual heating (expansion) and cooling (shrink) of the cheap solder joints eventual made them brittle and once a crack/break occurred it resulted in the RROD/YLOD. Previous consoles (360, ps3) had high failure rates because of high operating temperatures, prolonged use, and very cheap solder used on the CPU/GPU. The only thing a consumers should be doing is ensuring the device is in a well-ventilated/open space.

In some cases, they have actually worked against proper cooling. These Nyko intercoolers are (and have always been) a joke. Sorry, but this comes down to the internal cooling and the materials used in manufacture (in terms of whether or not they will eventually fail). uhh.NopeĪnd they claim they studied "thermodynamics". Saw someone recommend a Nyko intercooler.
